Indeed, it is very rich in omega-6 such as gamma-linolenic acid, recognized as anti-inflammatory and playing a key role in skin hydration. How to use evening primrose oil?

Pure use, directly on the skin

Evening primrose oil can, like the vast majority of vegetable oils, be used pure on the skin. Moderately oily, it will be necessary to massage to make it penetrate. It can be applied either as a body or facial massage, over large areas, or more punctually, on eczema, psoriasis or any other part of inflamed or irritated skin.

Pure use, internally

When used orally, evening primrose oil is very appreciated for helping to reduce disorders linked to premenopause and cholesterol. For any internal use, we advise you to consult your doctor or pharmacist.

Mixed with other vegetable oils or essential oils

Evening primrose oil is moderately fatty and not very penetrating. This means that its skin penetration requires prolonged massage. To make it penetrate more easily and quickly into the skin, it is recommended to mix it with other less fatty vegetable oils. For a massage, mix it in equivalent proportions with sesame oil. For mature skin, add argan or rosehip oil with recognized anti-aging properties. For sensitive or dry skin, prefer macadamia oil, with a dry touch and so gentle on sensitive skin!

5 quick recipes & tips using evening primrose oil

Soothing massage oil for dry skin

In a 30 ml dropper bottle, mix 10 ml of evening primrose oil with 10 ml of sesame oil and 10 ml of hemp oil. Also add, if you wish, 5 drops of Roman chamomile essential oil. Shake to homogenize the preparation. Apply in the evening as a massage on the body and irritated areas.

Anti-aging serum for mature skin

In a 30 ml dropper bottle, mix equal parts argan oil, rosehip oil and evening primrose oil. Apply in the evening to clean, dry skin, massaging gently. Without essential oils, this serum can also be applied to the eye area.

Nourishing oil for mucous membranes

Evening primrose oil can be applied pure to the mucous membranes, particularly the vaginal mucosa, to limit dryness. Apply a few ml of evening primrose oil to dry mucous membranes in the evening.

Restorative oil for localized eczema or psoriasis

Mix in a 30 ml dropper bottle: 10 ml of evening primrose vegetable oil and 10 ml of oily calendula macerate and 9 ml of black seed oil. Finally add 30 drops of true lavender essential oil (also called “fine”). Apply to affected areas in the evening before bed. Massage gently to penetrate the synergy.
It is also recommended in the case of more extensive eczema or psoriasis to consume evening primrose oil capsules internally for a month.

Soothing and protective butter for extensive eczema

To make this butter, melt 30 ml of shea butter and 5 drops of vitamin E in a bain-marie. When this mixture is melted, remove it from the bain-marie and add 20 ml of evening primrose oil. Mix to homogenize the preparation. Then leave to cool overnight in the refrigerator. Apply in the evening to eczema or psoriasis and massage to penetrate.
It is also recommended in the case of eczema or extensive psoriasis to consume evening primrose oil capsules internally for a month.

Evening primrose oil is recommended to combat chronic inflammatory conditions such as eczema or psoriasis. For this, the application for external use is often coupled with the use of evening primrose oil orally in the form of capsules.


NOURISHING

Evening primrose oil contains numerous omega-6s including gamma-linolenic acid in large quantities as well as linoleic acid. These omega-6, in addition to being essential fatty acids, when used internally, for the proper functioning of our body (= so-called “essential” fatty acids), they give evening primrose oil ultra-nourishing properties.
