CHARACTERISTICS, PROPERTIES AND BENEFITS OF GINKGO THROUGHOUT HISTORY
Ginkgo biloba is a very beautiful tree from China and Japan that can reach 40 m. Its leaves, thick and soft, have a median notch which divides the blade into 2 lobes, hence the name biloba.
In the fall its green leaves take on a beautiful golden color, which is why it is also called “the tree of forty crowns”.
It is the survivor of a very ancient tree which grew in Eastern China more than 200 million years ago and can be considered the oldest tree in the world in addition to being considered potentially immortal because it has no neither natural parasite nor disease associated with it. The oldest known specimen is located in the botanical garden of a Japanese university and is 1250 years old. It could live up to 3500 years.

A LITTLE HISTORY (GINKGO, ITS PROPERTIES AND USES)…
Ginkgo remained unknown to the Western world for a long time. Buddhist monks planted it around temples to ward off fire. From 80 degrees the tree expands its bark and very quickly develops a fire-retardant sap throughout the trunk which prevents it from burning.
We find a description of its use in a Chinese medical treatise dating from 2600 BCE.
For around 5000 years it has been used in China to treat various ailments.
It was introduced to Europe at the very beginning of the 18th century by a German botanist on a mission to Japan, and it was only from 1950 that Western medicine began to take an interest in it and discover its powerful chemical components. and the potential of its leaves.
Ginkgo is part of the Chinese pharmacopoeia and is very frequently used in traditional Chinese medicine.
An early extract of ginkgo leaves, containing substances called flavonoids, was produced in the second half of the 20th century. It was only from 1962 that it was used in France for its exceptional virtues.
